How To Buy A Cabin

Things to be considered when buying a cabin

Here at Montana Shed Center, we want to make buying a cabin an enjoyable experience. So we created this how-to buy a cabin page. The most effective way to do this is to help you have a good understanding of the process required to achieve success. Reading this page is a good start.

Your Property

You have this really nice piece of property for your cabin, but is it accessible? When considering a preconstructed building, the access has to allow delivery. For this reason, before you get started, it is good to consult one of our sales experts. Using an internet map, they can get a good idea if a prefabricated cabin is right for you. To be sure, having your cabin built in our facility is far superior to having work crews and delivery trucks travel to a remote location.

The Foundation

Next, you will need to arrange for a foundation. We will provide all the plans required for a proper foundation. The foundation can be a simple footing up or to a full basement. Along with the foundation, the exterior plumbing will also have to be installed in the proper location.

At this point, you might want to hire a general contractor to oversee these projects.

Designing Your Cabin

The fun begins by choosing the cabin model that is right for you. Here are a few things to consider.

  • How often will your cabin be used? Will you use it only in the warmer months, or will it be year-round living?
  • Do you have an idea of the square footage of floor space you will need?
  • How many bedrooms and baths do you want?
  • Do you want a loft and would it be for storage or living space?

Once you chose a model, then you can start picking all your colors and materials. We have many samples to select from. If we don’t have what you want, we will work hard to find it.

Preparing for delivery is an exciting time. Anticipating your dream cabin becoming a reality is the beginning of wonderful memories. However, most of these cabins do require a crane service. Securing a crane service is the customer’s responsibility. In addition, you will need to have a plumber and electrician ready to hook up the water, sewage, and electricity so that you can move right in. We will work together with you to coordinate all of these tasks.
